Teddy R. Brasher Memoriam
Teddy R. Brasher 1929-2020

Mr. Teddy R. Brasher, was the first Board Chair of the Shelby County Law Enforcement Personnel Board and has served continuously from 1979 until his passing in October of 2020.

On January 13, 2014, the Shelby County Commission took action to honor longtime Shelby County Law Enforcement Personnel Board member Teddy R. Brasher of Chelsea by displaying an Alabama House resolution commending his years of service.

The commission at its meeting in Columbiana unanimously approved its own resolution that recognized Brasher for “his leadership and expertise as a dedicated” board member. The state House resolution in Brasher’s honor is displayed in the Law Enforcement Personnel Board office in the Frank C. “Butch” Ellis Community Services Building in Columbiana.

The state Legislature adopted the House resolution on April 9, 2013 that honored Teddy with “highest commendation … in recognition of his exemplary service on the Shelby County Law Enforcement Personnel Board.”

The resolution stated that “through the years, Mr. Brasher has earned respect for his exceptional abilities and unwavering commitment to public service, and he is truly deserving of the significant honor bestowed upon him.”

The Shelby County Commission’s legislative action included directions to display a copy of the resolution “as evidence of the esteem in which he is held and in appreciation of his many years of service to the Shelby County Law Enforcement Personnel Board.”
